The same can be said for the Celtics and Mavericks. Both Boston GM Danny Ainge and Dallas owner Mark Cuban have been in direct contact at various points, according to those close to West. They all want him to find his place in life, and they want to be a helping hand when needed.
In 2010, Ainge was responsible for signing West back onto the Celtics after drafting him in 2004. After one season, West went on to sign with the Mavericks in 2011. The Mavericks was the last NBA team he played on before spending time with the G-League and in China.
Delonte West was the 24th overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft and played seven seasons in the NBA. He played for the Mavericks, Celtics, Seattle Supersonics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his NBA career, West averaged 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. He scored more than 4,000 points and appeared in more than 400 games.
Hopefully, West can get all the help that he needs to get his life back together. Cuban and Ainge have certainly done a good deed to reach out to their former player for help.
There have been numerous clips of former NBA player Delonte West getting beat up in the street and placed into handcuffs. West appeared to be in a really bad shape mentally and physically. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge have both offered to help Delonte West.
