Throughout his storied NBA career, Michael Jordan was known as a winner and someone who pushed his teammates to be better in order for them to win. It didn’t matter if he would sometimes berate, trash talk, or even get physical with some of his teammates. If it got them to play better on the court, he would do it.

Dominic Bozzelli is one person familiar with Jordan’s competitiveness and drive to push the people around him to be better, which has become part of his legend. The 29-year-old golfer made the cut at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship, which marks the first time he made a PGA Tour cut since January. This means that at least Bozzelli wouldn’t have to hear it from Jordan, a 2-handicap golfer who plays at the same Florida golf club as Bozzelli.

In a story by Sal Maiorana in USA TODAY Sports' Golfweek, the golfer revealed just how Michael Jordan’s competitive nature spills over from the basketball court to the fairways:

“He’ll start jabbing at me early,” Dominic Bozzelli said of Michael Jordan. “If I hit a bad drive he’ll say something like, ‘That’s why you’re not playing the major this week.’ Or stuff like that. He keeps ribbing me. You either sink or swim there; he makes you do something about it, makes you dig your heels in. If that’s going to rattle you then you shouldn’t be playing pro sports anyway, but that’s just his way of telling you how to go after your weaknesses. You’re either going to keep hearing it from him or you do something about it. It’s fun.”

Despite the playful insults, Bozzelli is still thankful for the chance to talk and pick the brain of one of the greatest athletes of all time. Plus, at least he’ll have a PGA Tour appearance to talk about the next time they play together.
