Houston Rockets guard James Harden may have gone on a historic scoring run this season, but it’s Milwaukee Bucks phenom Giannis Antetokounmpo who is still the betting favorite to win the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award at -225, according to BetOnline.ag.

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George currently rounds out the top three.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 27.0 points, 12.6 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.3 steals over 33 minutes per game while shooting 58 percent from the floor, 24.8 percent from 3-point range and 71.5 percent from the free-throw line. He made his third straight All-Star appearance last month as a result.

The 24-year-old was originally selected by the Bucks in the first round (15th pick overall) of the 2013 NBA Draft. He played in 77 games during his rookie campaign, registering 6.8 points and 4.4 boards across 24.6 minutes a night.

While he showed significant improvement during his second and third seasons, it wasn’t until Antetokounmpo’s fourth year in the league that he really broke out, posting 22.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.6 steals through 35.6 minutes per game while making 52.1 percent of his field goal attempts, 27.2 percent of his long-distance tries and 77.0 percent of his foul shots en route to his first All-Star selection.

Then, last season, Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded 26.9 points, 10.0 boards, 4.8 dimes, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks over 36.7 minutes a night, connecting on 52.9 percent of his shots, 30.7 percent of his triples and 76 percent of his free throws.

Harden is having an amazing 2018-19 campaign in his own right, posting 36.3 points, 7.5 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals across 37.3 minutes per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field, 35.9 percent from downtown and 87.8 percent from the charity stripe.
