Pau Gasol is still looking for one last chance to hold onto his NBA dream after being waived by the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. The Spanish international is still recovering from the foot fracture he suffered last season while with the Milwaukee Bucks and has not had any NBA offers thus far, as Barcelona is looking to gauge his interest in a return to Spain, according to Lluís Canut of Catalan website ESports via Sportando.

Barcelona still has Gasol's player rights from before he crossed over to the NBA during the 2001-02 season, something they have held onto in hopes of one day seeing him retire in the famed Blaugrana jersey.

Gasol has dealt with a series of ailments in his last few years in the league, feeling the toll of an arduous 82-game season, several past playoff stints, and constant play at the international level, which has surely put some miles on his body.

The 7-foot-1 giant played a total of 30 minutes with the Bucks last season after being waived by the San Antonio Spurs, who played him in a limited role the previous two seasons.

A coaching role seems to be available for the Spaniard if he chooses to take it, but it looks like his playing days in the NBA are over, as teams around the league look to sign young players to two-way contracts instead of veterans.
