With more NBA regular season game leaks trickling in, Friday also brought news of a November 17th clash between the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers, per Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

That bout means the first matchup between Russell Westbrook and Damian Lillard since the Blazers eliminated the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2019 playoffs. Lillard hit the now-famous pull-up three-point with All-Defense honoree Paul George guarding him, sinking it with time expiring to eliminate George, Westbrook, and the now-defunct Thunder from the postseason.

The buzzer-beating shot from Lillard may have dashed the OKC team as we know it since in the time we last saw the Thunder, general manager Sam Presti and the front office have traded both George and Westbrook in hopes of a fast-tracked rebuild with multiple picks and nice talent.

George was the first to go, getting dealt to the LA Clippers for rising sophomore Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, and a record haul of first-round picks. PG joins his fellow LA native Kawhi Leonard with the Clippers.

Then the Thunder astonishingly traded Westbrook to the Rockets to join former Thunder backcourt teammate and another former Presti draft pick turned league MVP in James Harden. Westbrook and Harden, along with Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka, took the young OKC team to the 2012 Finals, losing to the LeBron James–led Miami Heat in five games.

Westbrook could perhaps deliver his cold revenge to Lillard and the revamped Blazers in November by adding more spice with a Rockets win over the Blazers. Similarly, the recently-extended Lillard eliminated Harden and the Rockets from the playoffs back in 2014.
