Unrestricted free agent Shane Larkin has declared his intention to do “whatever it takes” to put himself in a position to succeed in the NBA. The Boston Celtics point guard has yet to sign a new deal, and as of the moment, nothing is guaranteed for the 25-year-old.

Nonetheless, Larkin's head appears to be in the right place. At this point in his career, he claims that what comes first for him is to have an opportunity to significantly contribute to a team, and that everything else comes second.

“For me, it’s mainly just playing time,” Larkin told Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. “All that other stuff, that comes after. Money, the city, all of that stuff comes after playing time for me. I just want to get to somewhere I know I can play and continue to grow as a player. And I’ll do whatever it takes to find another good opportunity.”

Larkin was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks 18th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft, but was immediately shipped of to the Dallas Mavericks on draft day. He was unimpressive in his rookie campaign, averaging just 2.8 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in just 10.2 minutes off the bench.

The former Miami Hurricanes standout spent the next two seasons with the New York Knicks and then then Brooklyn Nets, followed by a year playing abroad in Spain. He signed a deal with the Celtics last summer, and provided quality minutes to an injury-plagued squad.

The Celtics are taking their time with Larkin, knowing that interest from other teams are lukewarm, at best. Nonetheless, with this type of attitude, it would not be surprising to see Larkin in the NBA again this upcoming season.
