For NBA legend Steve Nash, the ‘changing times' are the main reason why suiting up for the national team is not on the top of the priority list for the players.

For the past few weeks, Team USA has seen its players back out from their duties for the upcoming FIBA World Cup. Some of them cited personal or health reasons. Most of them, however, said that they are looking to focus more on the upcoming 2019-2020 season. Per Chat News Today, Nash shared his thoughts on the matter:

“The business of basketball has just gotten so big. And the money that players are making and the values of their franchises is so huge. And the opportunities they have evolved so much that it’s not quite as simple as it was back in the day. And I do think that the times have changed. I think you’re seeing it with the U.S. players as well.”

Analysts have been trying to figure out the reason behind the massive pullout from the Americans. Unlike just a few years ago, whether it was for FIBA, the Olympics, or any other big international tourney, Team USA would be filled with the best of the best from the NBA.

Now, though Team USA still has a great chance to defend their title at the FIBA World cup, they aren't as star-filled as before. And Nash's explanation probably hit the nail in the head on why is this so.
