The Philadelphia 76ers and Atlanta Hawks will matchup on Friday night in an Eastern Conference matchup. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a 76ers-Hawks prediction and pick.

The 76ers and Hawks will battle on Friday in what will be a rematch of their second-round postseason series earlier in 2021. Atlanta of course won that series in seven games, and Ben Simmons has not played for Philadelphia since. The Hawks come into play Friday 8-1 in their last nine games, while the 76ers are 3-7 in their last ten games. Philadelphia is looking to find a rhythm after Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris each spent some time in health and safety protocols earlier this season. The Hawks come into play Friday as slight favorites at home over the 76ers.

Why The 76ers Can Cover The Spread

Obviously Joel Embiid being back is a huge deal for the Sixers. Philadelphia struggled to maintain their heads above water in his absence. The All-Star center isn't quite up to speed yet, but he's still been one of the better bigs around the league when he's been on the floor this season. Seth Curry and Tobias Harris provide a solid scoring punch to compliment Embiid, as Hawks fans know Curry can get really, really hot. Curry was arguably the 76ers best player late in that playoff series as Embiid wore down a bit.

The 76ers are 6-6 on the road this season, and 11-11 vs. the spread. Philadelphia will face a tough test on Friday vs. a Hawks team that has been playing really well.

Why The Hawks Cover The Spread

The Hawks are red hot. Across their last nine games, Atlanta leads the NBA in net rating and offensive rating. The Hawks' shooting has been big, as they rank second in the NBA in true shooting over the same period. Trae Young has notched five straight 30+ point games, the longest stretch in the NBA so far this season. The Hawks are a bit banged up on the wing, however. Bogdan Bogdanovic and De'Andre Hunter are both out, and Cam Reddish is questionable for Friday's game.

Atlanta is just slim favorite at home, and comes into play as the hotter team. The injuries on the wing are unquestionably pulling down this line, with fair reason. The Hawks should still be able to win and cover this number at home vs. a Sixers team that has been a bit out of rhythm.

Final 76ers-Hawks Prediction & Pick

Despite Embiid being back in the lineup, take the Hawks on their home floor Friday. Trae Young has been on fire of late, and the Hawks are 8-2 at home this season. They should be able to win and cover vs. Philadelphia in a spot where they have just played one game so far this week. Look for Kevin Huerter and John Collins to pick up the slack in the absence of Hunter and Bogdanovic, with guys like Delon Wright and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot potentially being asked of a bit more as well.

The Hawks are looking to climb back up the East standings after a rough losing streak earlier in the standings, and this could be a good opportunity to do so vs. at home vs. a conference opponent.

FINAL 76ERS-HAWKS PREDICTION & PICK: Hawks -1.5 (-110)
