Why The Bulls Could Cover The Spread

The Chicago Bulls have had a strong start to the year. Through the first half of the season they have managed to win 27 games and only lose 14. However, the Bulls have lost their last three games, with their most recent defeat coming at the hands of the Boston Celtics by two. Chicago has been dealing with injuries and COVID that can be pointed to as the reason for their recent struggle. The Bulls will look to turn things around on Monday as they face off against the Memphis Grizzlies in what is bound to be a tough match.

The Bulls actually put in a very solid performance against the Celtics. Without some of their best guys Chicago was able to compete and ultimately lose by only two. The Bulls kept this game close because of their efficiency. Chicago shot nearly 51% from the field, compared to 49% from Boston, and they made over 41% of their threes, compared to less than 35% from the Celtics. While the Bulls lacked the volume to secure a win, they did show that even without their top players they can still battle. That is an encouraging sign as they enter yet another game severely handicapped.

Every team in the league has been hit with COVID and injuries, but the Bulls are near the top of the list of the most impacted teams. Chicago currently has seven players listed on their injury report. Headlining the unavailable players are Alex Caruso, Zach LaVine,  and Lonzo Ball. These three players are crucial to the Bulls success and their absence is crippling. If Chicago is going to win on Monday they will need the rest of their players to step up big time.

Why The Grizzlies Could Cover The Spread

The Memphis Grizzlies have had one of the most interesting starts to the year. Through the first half of the season they have an impressive record with 30 wins and 15 losses. The Grizzlies had their eleven game win streak snapped by the Dallas Mavericks last Friday. Memphis was defeated by 27 in that game in what was a truly shocking outcome. The Grizzlies will get right back to work on Monday as they look to bounce back from what can only be labeled as a fluke loss. Memphis has looked very good recently, not counting their last game, and are facing a crippled Bulls team. This could be the bounce back opportunity the Grizzlies are looking for.

The Grizzlies were outclassed in nearly every metric in their loss to the Mavs. But their loss really boils down to a poor performance on their part. Memphis just didn't look like the team that had just won eleven games. They struggled to get anything going and only scored 85 points. The Grizzlies shot less than 39% from the field and less than 23% from beyond the arc. If Memphis wants to win on Monday they will need to make more of their shots. Hopefully, for their sake, that game was just an outlier to balance out all their recent success.

While many teams are suffering from COVID and injuries, the Grizzlies are largely unaffected. One of the biggest things going this teams way is their health. Memphis only has three players listed on their injury report. None of those players are recent additions, so the roster is largely intact. The Grizzlies have the talent, they have the skill, they just need to show up on Monday. The Grizzlies team that lost to the Mavs was not the same team that had won eleven games in a row. Expect a big bounce back night for Memphis as they face a vulnerable Bulls team.

Final Bulls-Grizzlies Prediction & Pick

This is an easy decision. The Chicago Bulls are crippled right now and the Grizzlies should have no problem exposing that. If the Bulls are gonna win on Monday it is going to be behind a huge night from DeRozan. Betting on one player to carry an entire team is not a winning move. The Grizzlies are a good team and they have all their guys. Pick Memphis to win and cover and get ready for a potential blow out.
