The second half of the NBA season kicks off tonight! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Cavaliers-Pistons prediction and pick.
The Cleveland Cavaliers look to continue their success from the first half of the season. They are (35-23) on the year and are set to face a favorable opponent right off the bat. The Detroit Pistons are just (13-45) on the season but did beat the Boston Celtics right before the All-Star break. This game doesn't have much hype, but it could turn out to be a good one.

Why The Cavaliers Could Cover The Spread
The Cavaliers allow the fewest points per game in the NBA at just 102.5 points. Teams struggle to score against them and this Pistons team will likely struggle against them as well. Seddiq Bey and Cade Cunningham will need to put on a performance tonight if the Pistons want any chance of winning this game at home. So for the Cavs, if they contain those two then there won't be much Detroit will be able to do. Offensively for the Cavs, Caris LeVert and All-Star Darius Garland will be out tonight. Those two will hurt them big time when it comes to consistency on offense. The Cavs will now try and rely on their elite big men to get the job done tonight.
Cleveland is (34-23-3) against the spread this season and is (6-4) in their last 10 games.
Why The Pistons Could Cover The Spread
The Pistons did win this last matchup 115-105 back on Jan 30. Both teams were at full strength and the Pistons were able to get it done. This will be their third matchup of the season and the Pistons are coming off a win, so they might feel confident tonight. That confidence will need to be a factor because they are playing a short-handed Cavs team. They will need to take advantage of that dominate the backcourt. It's not going to be easy to score on this defense, but the Pistons will need to try and find a rhythm tonight. Marvin Bagley III is averaging eight points and seven rebounds in his two games so maybe he can be that spark this team is searching for. With Cunningham, Bagley III, Jerami Grant, and Seddiq Bey, this team has a future.
Detroit isn't that bad ATS this season at (27-31). There are teams with better records and are worse against the spread. Detroit is just (2-8) in their last 10 games so it will likely take one of their better performances of the season to win tonight.
Final Cavaliers-Pistons Prediction & Pick
The Cavaliers have two crucial offensive players out tonight but still will be able to control the game with their defensive efforts. Cleveland is coming off two losses in a row and I think they will get back on track tonight. Consider taking the over in this game as well.
Final Cavaliers-Pistons Prediction & Pick: Cavaliers -6 (-110) & over: 208.5 (-110)
