The Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings will play in a Western Conference preseason matchup on Thursday night. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Lakers-Kings prediction and pick.

The Lakers and Kings will both try to figure out their rotations and lineups in what will be their final game of the preseason. Los Angeles enters the season with NBA title aspirations after losing in the first round of the playoffs last season. The Kings will look to snap their playoff drought and establish a winning culture they and their fan bases has long searched for since the days of the Lakers-Kings rivalry in the early 2000s.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the Lakers-Kings odds for this Thursday matchup.

NBA Odds: Lakers-Kings Odds

Los Angeles -2.5  (-115)

Sacramento Kings  -2.5 (-105)

Over 221 points (-115)

Why The Lakers Can Cover The Spread

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook are all off the injury report. While Trevor Ariza, Kendrick Nunn, Malik Monk, Wayne Ellington and Talen Horton-Tucker are still injured or getting back up to speed, Los Angeles has their key pieces tonight. How much they treat this like a ‘real' game is yet to be seen, but obviously any team that features this kind of star power is plenty capable of covering a two-point spread. Due to the fact it is still preseason, the line isn't quite as big as it should be. We have little way of knowing how much guys are going to play tonight barring adjustments to the Lakers injury report.

Why The Kings Can Cover The Spread

The Kings come into play nearly at full strength. They will be on their home floor for another preseason game, looking to go into the regular season with some momentum. Sacramento will likely go hard for at least the first half, as they are trying to establish a winning culture behind young point guard De'Aron Fox. The Lakers may rest their veterans a little earlier than the Kings choose to do so with their young guys, so Sacramento actually might be a nice value here if you're willing to assume James, Davis and Westbrook won't play all in all four quarters tonight.

Final Lakers-Kings Prediction & Pick

Fading the Lakers seems risky as they could always decide to treat this like a regular season game. They might have incentive to get as many minutes on the floor together with their stars as possible with this being their last official tune-up ahead of the regular season. However, James and Westbrook are up there in age, and Davis hasn't been the most durable. There is also case for not pushing them too hard in a game that doesn't mean anything. Take the over and hope each side keeps their key guys in the fold for as long as possible.
