The NBA regular season continues with games on Wednesday. The Orlando Magic will travel to take on the Washington Wizards. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Magic-Wizards prediction and pick.

These two teams have had very different starts to the season. The Orlando Magic have a record of only 7-34 and have lost their last nine games. While the Washington Wizards are 21-20 and are coming off back-to-back losses. This should be an interesting rematch between two teams who just played each other.

Washington Wizards: -6 (-110)

Under: 215.5 (-110)

Why The Magic Could Cover The Spread

The Orlando Magic have been possibly the worst team in the NBA. Through the first half of the season, they have only seven wins and an abysmal 34 losses. Orlando has lost their last nine games and will look to turn things around on Wednesday. Their most recent loss actually came against the Wizards on Sunday by only two points. The Magic were competitive in that game and will try and bounce back with a win in this rematch. While this team has been devastated by injuries and COVID, they could still end up on top on Wednesday. If the Magic can improve on their previous match with the Wizards then they could steal this win on the road.

Orlando came up short across most statistics in their loss to Washington. In spite of having fewer rebounds, assists, and shooting at a lower efficiency, the Magic were able to keep that game within two points. Orlando was able to compete due to pure volume. The Magic took 96 shots in that game compared to only 88 from the Wizards. If Orlando can step up the efficiency then they could easily win the rematch. The Magic shot less than 40% from the field in their loss. If they can take and make higher quality shots then this should be a good game.

Both COVID and injuries have crippled this Magic team. Orlando currently has seven players on their injury report. Headlining the unavailable players are Jalen Suggs, Markelle Fultz, and Jonathan Isaac. Two of the players on the injury report, Mo Bamba and Wendell Carter Jr., are questionable for Wednesday's game. This Magic team has been injured all season, so these losses aren't anything new for Orlando.

Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread

The Washington Wizards have had a rollercoaster start to the season. They started off extremely strong but have had to overcome a lot of adversity. Through the first half of the season, they have managed to squeak out a winning record with 21 wins and 20 losses. The Wizards were able to beat the Magic two games ago, but only by two points. In their most recent game, Washington took down the OKC Thunder by four points. The Wizards might be winning games, but they are playing much lesser opponents. If the Wizards want to dominate on Wednesday then they will need to step things up.

The Wizards were able to take down the Thunder for one reason, efficiency. OKC took 98 shots compared to only 87 shots from Washington, yet both teams made 47 of their shot attempts. Washington was converting their shots at a high percentage which allowed them to compete and ultimately win this game. Additionally, the four-point difference can be accounted for purely from free throws. The Wizards made four more free throws than the Thunder and this is what ultimately gave them the win. Washington needs to be more aggressive if they want to win by a large margin.

Currently, Washington only has two players listed on the injury report. The Wizards have had a lot of variance with injured players, but as of now, they are mostly healthy. However, one of the unavailable players for Wednesday's game is Bradley Beal. Beal recently entered the league's health and won't play in the rematch against Orlando. This is a huge loss for the Wizards as Beal is the leader of this team. Washington will continue to lean on their other strong players to carry the team on Wednesday. If the Wizards can kick things up a notch then they could easily win this game.

Final Magic-Wizards Prediction & Pick

This is a tough decision. The Magic and Wizards just faced off, while the Wizards won they only did so by a small margin. When the Wizards played the Magic they had Bradley Beal and they still weren't able to dominate. Beal seems like the difference-maker here. Since the Wizards star will be unavailable on Wednesday, the Magic should be able to keep this game close and maybe even win. Pick the Magic to cover.
