The NBA trade deadline is just over a month away, which means the rumor mill is about to start getting hot. Two names already in the mix are New York Knicks forward Marcus Morris and Washington Wizards sharpshooter Davis Bertans, whom teams are targeting in trade talks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

This hardly comes as a surprise, and one might even go as far to say that it was expected.

Morris signed a one-year deal with the Knicks over the summer. While he is having a terrific season individually, things have not exactly panned out in New York.

With the Knicks seeming somewhat likely to trade off assets, Morris seems like a prime candidate to go, as he is on that short deal on a reasonable salary ($15 million) and can absolutely help a contender.

In 31 games this season, the 30-year-old is averaging 18.3 points and 5.6 rebounds over 31.5 minutes per game while shooting 42.6 percent from the floor, 45.2 percent from 3-point range and 85.9 percent from the free-throw line.

While Marcus Morris can be streaky, he is terrific at creating his own shot and has defensive versatility, both of which are incredibly valuable assets come playoff time. While the veteran would like to stay in New York and the team has interest in keeping him, don't be surprised if there's a trade.

Meanwhile, Bertans is in his first season with the Wizards after coming over in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs this past summer.

Through 28 contests, Bertans is registering 15.4 points and 4.9 boards across 30 minutes a night while making 44.9 percent of his field goal attempts, 43.4 percent of his long-distance tries and 89.4 percent of his foul shots.

The 27-year-old is making $7 million this season and will become an unrestricted free agent this coming offseason. The Wizards have said they would like to keep Davis Bertans around, but that could change depending on what suitors offer in trade discussions.
