The NBA trade deadline is steadily approaching and Andre Drummond has been a popular name that is known to be on the trade block for the Cleveland Cavaliers. With the Cavaliers looking to move the veteran big man ahead of the deadline, the Chicago Bulls have expressed interest in Drummond, per The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Seeing that Cleveland isn't a team that will contend for a title in the near future, they don't view Drummond as someone who can help them long-term. Provided that, the Cavaliers are sitting Drummond until they can find a possible trade suitor before the deadline passes.

There have been multiple teams in the Eastern Conference, including the Toronto Raptors, who have shown interest in acquiring Drummond via trade. However, the Bulls are hesitant that a deal can be completed, likely due to him being owed $28.7 million this season.

Given the fact that Drummond is a free agent once this season concludes, Chicago probably doesn't want to surrender too much in case he departs in the offseason. At the same time, the idea of pairing him with Zach LaVine, Coby White, and Patrick Williams could be intriguing for the Bulls.

Drummond isn't particularly a modern center that can stretch the floor, but he does contribute on the boards, and he can convert points in the paint. The 27-year-old center was averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds for the Cavaliers before being benched last month.

There are going to be a few teams who make a push to acquire Drummond ahead of the trade deadline. Among those teams, it appears the Bulls are attempting to conjure up a deal that can land them Drummond, while also maintaining their plan for the future.
