While Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is widely considered as this season's frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year award, Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young has been making a lot of noise himself lately.
Logging a career-high 36 points on Wednesday in a 131-123 overtime victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Young was able to become only the first rookie to score at least 35 points in back-to-back games since the great Allen Iverson accomplished the same feat more than two decades ago.

This is definitely a very impressive feat from Young, which just proves how potent a scorer the 20-year-old is. Iverson is without question one of the greatest point guards to ever play the sport, so to be included in the same category as the former Philadelphia 76ers superstar speaks volumes of Young's potential.

On top of his 36 points against the Wolves, Young also notched two three-pointers, eight rebounds, 10 assists, and three turnovers in 43 minutes of action. The 6-foot-2 guard did not have the most efficient nights from the field, however, going only 9-of-22 overall. He more than made up for it from the charity stripe, as his aggression throughout the ballgame resulted in a pristine 16-of-17 from the line.
In Atlanta's previous game on Monday, Young tallied 36 points in a loss against the Houston Rockets, while also adding eight three-pointers and eight assists.
That's now back-to-back career-best marks from Young, and given how hot he has been lately, it would not be a surprise if he is able to keep up his offensive onslaught.
