Trae Young had another All-Star caliber performance on Sunday night against the New York Knicks, leading the way for the Atlanta Hawks with 48 points.

With nine 40-point games this season alone, the Hawks sophomore became one of the three players in NBA history with at least ten 40-point games before turning 22 — joining superstars LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

The first-time All-Star knocked down six threes and hit all 16 of his free throw attempts. The 21-year-old also posted 13 assists while playing 48 minutes in the double overtime win.

Consequently, Young now has three 45-point, 10-assist games within his first two seasons, passing Michael Jordan’s record of two. Nate “Tiny” Archibald currently holds the top spot with five.

Sunday night’s game was no fluke, of course. The 6-foot-1 point guard is having a monstrous second season, posting an average of 29.3 points and 9.0 assists. In fact, these numbers were enough to earn him a spot in the upcoming All-Star game in Chicago, where he would start for Team Giannis.

Aside from Young’s impressive efforts, Hawks third-year forward John Collins also bulldozed his way to a 32-point, 16-rebound game and played for an astonishing 50 minutes. Julius Randle, on the other hand, led the Knicks with 35 points and 18 rebounds in a losing effort.

The Hawks, however, seem unable to capitalize on Trae Young's stellar numbers. Despite their recent win, Atlanta currently has the second-worst record in the East at 15-39.
