Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young has cut ties with Octagon and appears to be on a path to join Klutch Sports, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Young had been rumored to follow his agent, Omar Wilkes, who recently departed Octagon to accept a position with Klutch Sports as the head of basketball operations.
If he makes the move, Young would join the agency that represents some of the most powerful players in the league, including Ben Simmons, Draymond Green, Anthony Davis, John Wall, and the biggest star of them all, LeBron James.
Young is expected to soon start to interview agents and weigh his options for future representation. He won't rush his decision, though a reunion with Wilkes remains very likely.
Rich Paul, who had the title of head of basketball operations — the one recently bestowed upon Wilkes — will turn his focus on other obligations as the agency's CEO.
Young is one of the most dynamic NBA players, making a sizable jump from his rookie season to average 29.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 9.3 assists en route to his first All-Star nod.
The 21-year-old Hawks point guard is widely expected to receive a max extension of his rookie contract in the near future, and he could be a member of Klutch Sports by the time he has to put pen to paper.
