The Atlanta Hawks couldn't sustain their strong start on Tuesday night, as they absorbed a 107-98 defeat against the Boston Celtics.

Hawks star Trae Young had another strong showing with 31 points and six assists but his efforts fell short, as the Hawks dropped to 29-32. The spitfire guard managed to finish the game despite suffering a left ankle sprain in the first quarter. Celtics guard Marcus Smart slid into Young's landing spot during a three-point attempt. He headed to their locker room before returning midway in the second period.

Young will definitely feel sore tomorrow, but according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, the Hawks playmaker isn't too worried about his status.

It appeared the incident with Smart lit a fire under Young, who's one of the most competitive dudes in the NBA. He scored at will and broke down the defense of the Celtics. Unfortunately, his performance didn't translate into a win for the Hawks.

The Hawks surely can't afford to miss Young at this point of the calendar, as they're hoping to squeeze into the NBA Playoffs. After a stirring run all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, many expected them to make a bigger leap this campaign, but that hasn't really been the case.

The Hawks can bounce back on Thursday but it won't be a cakewalk against the Chicago Bulls.
