John Collins was a beast for the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, finishing with a huge double-double of 27 points to go with 12 boards.  In an otherwise meaningless game in terms of playoff implications, the Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies duked it out as both teams aimed to give their fans some optimism heading into the next season. The Hawks certainly delivered on that promise, handily defeating the visiting Grizzlies, 132-115, to notch just their 24th win of the season. The victory also held off the Hawks from being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention for another day.

Not only did the 24-year-old forward secure team-highs with the above-mentioned stats, but he also delivered a sweet mid-air move in the paint that totally baffled his opposition. Here's the clip of Collins' highlight-worthy play wherein his shot was bound to be blocked by Memphis' Jonas Valanciunas, only to gather himself in mid-air and still covert the dazzling two-pointer.

It's rare to see Valanciunas make huge plays on defense, so he must've been really deflated to see how quickly Collins adjusted his shot and still make the bucket after his clean attempt at blocking the ball.

To add further insult to injury, the Grizzlies had their three-game winning streak snapped by a team with a worse record than theirs.

Collins continues to display his stunning growth in just his second year in the pros with his mix of size and athleticism. The Wake Forest product currently leads all Atlanta players this season with nearly 20 points per game along with a very efficient 57.2-percent field goal percentage.
