According to a report from Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the Boston Celtics are finalizing a multiyear deal with free agent guard Jabari Bird, who spent last season (his rookie season) on a two-way deal with the team. Now, after a solid showing in this season's Summer League tournament, the C's are willing to pull the proverbial trigger on an offer, which would fill out their roster at 15 men.

The 24-year-old shooting guard had his moments to contribute near the end of last regular season. Amidst serious roster attrition, injuries and all, he received contributive minutes for three of the final four games in April. He started one of those, scoring seven points and grabbing seven rebounds in 29 minutes played that night against the Brooklyn Nets.
The details of Jabari Bird's contract have not been fully disclosed. However, Keith Smith of Real GM tweeted out some of the information shortly after news of this deal broke on Thursday morning. Smith also noted that the Celtics are keeping an eye out for a player who could fill their final two-way spot.

Because Jabari Bird is signing a two-year deal, he'll have 3 years of service (the two-way year counts as a year of service) when it completes. That means he'll be a restricted free agent in the summer of 2020.

After re-signing Jabari Bird, the Celtics roster is now at the regular season maximum of 15 players. Still have one open two-way spot (Walt Lemon Jr. has one of them) and 3-4 deals for training camp.

Earlier this week, Kadeem Allen signed with the New York Knicks, which is the reason why the Celtics have one two-way spot remaining (Walt Lemon Jr. is Boston's other two-way player). Now, with the pieces falling into place, it seems the only task left for the Celtics is filling out their training camp roster.
