There has been a lot of talk surrounding Kyrie Irving's looming free agency this summer, as multiple rumors indicate that the All-Star guard might not be a lock to re-sign with the Boston Celtics. ESPN's Jalen Rose is one of the people who believe that Irving will not be wearing a Celtics uniform next season:

Kyrie Irving was traded to the Celtics back in 2017, and the expectation was he would be in Boston for a very long time. Even Kyrie said in the past that he would re-sign with the team if they want him. However, a lot of things have happened since that led to speculations about the the 26 year-old having second thoughts about committing to the franchise for the long haul.

The Celtics' drama-filled season has likely led to all of this. Irving has been critical of the team, particularly the young guys on the squad. He said they don't know how to play “championship-level basketball.”

If Irving decides to leave the Celtics, this could jeopardize the team's long-term plans. Boston is reportedly looking to trade for New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis this summer, but if Kyrie leaves, the Celtics would then be hesitant to part ways with any of their assets.

The potential destinations for Irving if he leaves will likely be the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers, two teams that have enough cap space to sign him to a max contract come July. The Brooklyn Nets would also be an intriguing spot.

Despite all the rumors, Celtics management is confident they can keep Kyrie Irving and will surely do whatever it takes to make that happen.
