Kemba Walker knows that all his Boston Celtics teammates have a killer instinct. He took time before the game to double check on all of them and made sure to unlock their toughness ahead of Monday's win against the Toronto Raptors.
And when asked about it, ‘Cardiac Kemba' said he just wanted to make sure the Celtics would come out hard for Game 5 – which they did.
“I wanted the guys to be tough. I just thought we got out-toughed last game.” Walker told the media after the game about the Celtics. “They just played harder than us and I know what we're capable of. We're capable of playing hard and that's a skill. A lot of guys in our team have that skill and have that ability. I got to check my guys' hearts and they showed it, big time.”
The Boston Celtics were definitely all-heart on Monday night as they grabbed a huge 111-89 win against Toronto. After dropping games 3 and 4, the Celtics took back control of the series and are now one win away from eliminating the defending champions and moving on to the Eastern Conference finals.
Good thing Kemba came knocking.
Walker dropped 21 points in Monday's blowout win but it was his teammate Jaylen Brown who led the way for the Celtics with a huge 27-point performance.
Per the Celtics' starting guard, he knows his team dropped the ball in their previous games and got outhustled by the Raptors. They've proven they can outmatch their opponents with their toughness in their first seven wins in the playoffs this season. Walker is hoping Boston can continue to lock in and maintain winning ways as they look to finish off the defending champions.
