Boston Celtics center Robert Williams had a game-high three steals in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. But there was apparently rampant thievery going on off the court as well.
With the Celtics making the NBA Finals again for the first time in over a decade, there's obviously insane demand for tickets in a basketball-crazed city like Boston. Unfortunately, 29-year-old Jeffrey Hall used that to his advantage by selling counterfeit tickets near TD Garden right before tip-off of Game 3, according to a report from Boston.com's Ross Cristiantiello.
Boston Police announced Thursday that they arrested a man near TD Garden shortly before tipoff of game three for allegedly selling forged tickets. The arrest was made around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night, officials said. Jeffrey Hall, 29, of Naugatuck, Conn. was arrested in the area of Causeway Street.

Hall is reportedly no first-time offender when it comes to this grift. He already had a warrant for his arrest over charges of forging tickets and unlicensed resale of tickets. Having the NBA Finals come to Boston probably seemed like a golden opportunity for him to take advantage of some of the Celtics' most loyal fans. Thankfully, it didn't pay off for him in the end.
With the Celtics taking on the Warriors back at TD Garden for Game 4, and potentially Game 6 if necessary, fans in the Boston area should stay extra vigilant for some shady characters looking to make a quick buck.
