Boston Celtics point guard Marcus Smart celebrated his 28th birthday on Sunday in the best way possible; with a win over the rival Brooklyn Nets. Speaking to reporters after the game, Smart opened up on his time with the Celtics and what he's been through with the organization that drafted him all the way back in 2014, via Keith Smith.

Smart is the Celtics' longest-tenured player, and he reminisced on the ups and downs he's endured during his eight years with the franchise. The only player on the roster with more experience in the NBA is Al Horford, but no one has been in Beantown longer than Smart.

Things are going great in Boston of late, with the Celtics emerging as winners of eight of their last 10 games, and three in a row. The team is now in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, despite a dismal start to the season, and are within striking distance of the top seed in the conference, just 4.5 games out of first place.

The veteran was getting a bit nostalgic as he rung in his 28th year with an important win, and it's clear just how important this franchise and this city are to him, having been his home for the better part of the last decade.

This season for the Celtics, Smart is averaging 11.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, having started in all 55 games he's featured in. The 28-year-old shooting at a 41.4% clip from the field, and 32.5% from 3-point territory while logging 32.8 minutes per night.
