The Detroit Pistons have released their rights to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, making him “the marketplace's No. 1 unrestricted free agent”, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Caldwell-Pope has been recognized as one of the better young two-way guards in the league. Playing for Detroit for all four years of his career, he averaged 11.8 points, while in the 2016-17 season, he ended up with 13.8 points per game.

According to Wojnarowski, the Brooklyn Nets are among the teams gearing up for a hard attempt at landing the shooting guard's services.

If D'Angelo Russell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are paired up in the backcourt for the Nets, they would bring an aggressive mindset to the starting lineup. Imagine Russell directing the offense with his incredible playmaking abilities along with Caldwell-Pope's explosiveness and intensity on defense.

However, the Nets aren't the only team wanting to acquire Caldwell-Pope as the Lakers also have a Hail Mary plan to acquire him.

This goes to show what Caldwell-Pope can bring to a team with his valuable skill set. With the Detroit Pistons picking up Avery Bradley from the Boston Celtics, Caldwell-Pope must find a new home. But with his potential and youth, teams will actively pursue the talented guard.
