Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash has spoken out about the death of Daunte Wright at the hands of the police on Sunday.
Much like most of America, Nash sees this tragedy as another act of violence against the African-American community:

I can’t imagine what it’s like to be African-American, to be an African-American parent. It’s unacceptable and it’s devastating to put yourself in their shoes. And it’s devastating just to be a part of it.”
Daunte Wright was fatally shot by a Brooklyn Center, Minnesota police officer following a routine traffic stop. Wright, who allegedly had an outstanding warrant, tried to flee the scene. This was when the officer accidentally pulled out her firearm instead of her taser. The 20-year-old Wright sustained just one gunshot wound and was killed shortly after the incident.
Nash is not the first NBA coach to speak out about this tragedy. On Monday, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers also came out with his own statement. Likewise, Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs also called out the killing as he produced a scathing commentary on the state of the African-American community in America.
Nash and the Nets were in action on Tuesday. They defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 127-97, in a game that was previously postponed in light of the Daunte Wright killing.
