Brooklyn Nets big man Blake Griffin will finally make his debut against the Washington Wizards on Sunday night after joining the Nets two weeks ago.

According to ESPN's Malika Andrews, the six-time All-Star didn't get a good night's sleep because he's so excited to return to the court:

In the early stages of the 2020-21 season with the Detroit Pistons, Blake Griffin was averaging just 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists through 20 games played this season. Griffin eventually had a decreased role within the team as head coach Dwane Casey opted to play his younger guys in a bid to continue their rebuilding efforts, with both parties agreeing the veteran would sit until a resolution was found.

After agreeing to a contract buyout with the Pistons, the Nets immediately swooped in and nabbed Griffin. However, Griffin has yet to suit up for the Nets due to left knee injury management. He hasn't played in a game since Feb. 12.

The Nets didn't need to rush Griffin back as both Kyrie Irving and James Harden are continuing to lead the team as of late. Meanwhile, the Nets' other All-Star player in Kevin Durant is also taking his time to return on the floor as he is currently recovering from a hamstring injury.

With Griffin's arrival, head coach Steve Nash is looking to have a tenured veteran to fill in his team's shallow frontcourt rotation for the remainder of the season. More than anything, the 32-year-old just needs an opportunity to serve as a contributor on a contending team and prove his capabilities once more.

Hopefully, Blake Griffin can get back on the right track as he opens a new chapter with the Nets this season.
