In his last season with the Detroit Pistons, Blake Griffin wasn't his usual self and the narrative behind him not dunking for more than a year apparently pissed him off. The Brooklyn Nets star was only able to play for 18 games in his last season with the Pistons in the shortened 2019-2020 season after a series of surgeries in his knee slowed the athletic forward down.

This obviously had the media talking about how it's been more than a calendar year since the usually high-flying Griffin threw down a dunk which ultimately didn't bode well with the former Slam Dunk champion.

“It bothered me a little bit,” Griffin said (via Bleacher Report). “Because the stat was he hasn't dunked in four-hundred-something days, sure,”

We all know how people love controversial storylines and this was way too interesting to pass up for the general public. Thing is, people didn't realize that it was a bit skewed, as always.

“Everyone's like ‘he hasn't dunked in over a year,' I'm like I haven't played in over a year,” he added. “But I played those 19 games with the Pistons and didn't dunk. That just pissed me off because you guys know the stat, you're just choosing to be like ‘let's do days instead of games.'”

Fortunately for the former ROTY, he was able to rid that narrative off after he signed with the Nets late last season. The 32-year-old was getting back to his usual self and ended up playing 26 games for the Nets. Griffin even suited for 10 playoff games before Brooklyn had to exit after a second-round defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks.
