It was announced on Friday that the NBA would be selecting D'Angelo Russell as an All-Star. TNT personality and former NBA star Charles Barkley loved this pick and fully endorsed his involvement with the activities.
He is replacing Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo, who is out for the year. Oladipo has been excellent this season for the Pacers, as they seemed to be a real threat in the Eastern Conference.
This was his second straight nod by the coaches for the team. Oladipo had suffered a season-ending injury when he partially ruptured the quad tendon in his right knee on January 23rd. He underwent successful surgery this past Monday.
Charles Barkley: "If your team is number six in the Eastern Conference…you've got to reward that guy. We reward winning."
Today, they rewarded winning.

Russell has come out this season and has proven that he can be a star in the league. He's averaging a career-high 19.6 points and 6.4 assists this season. He's also shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from beyond the arc. He is third among Eastern Conference players with a career-high 140 3-pointers this season

He is the Nets' first All-Star selection since the 2013-14 season when Joe Johnson represented the team.
The 22-year-old point guard was picked by Silver over other very qualified candidates. That includes his own teammate Spencer Dinwiddie and Philadelphia 76ers guard Jimmy Butler.
The teams will be selected by Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James and will be televised on TNT. It will occur this upcoming Thursday.
The Brooklyn Nets are 28-26 the sixth seed in the NBA's Eastern Conference. They will face off next against the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center this upcoming Saturday.
