Brooklyn Nets talent, and budding superstar, D'Angelo Russell clearly has ice in his veins.

He dropped 40 points and added seven assists to lead the Brooklyn Nets to a 117-115 win over the Orlando Magic.

The Nets, who trailed by as many as 21 points, seemed to be on their way to losing this game before Russell decided to take over the game. He scored Brooklyn's final 19 points in the first half

Again, that's 19 straight points; no other player has done that this season.

Trailing 67-54 at the beginning of the second half, Russell continued to torch Orlando. However, Brooklyn wasn't able to take the lead until the last 26 seconds of the game, when D'Lo hit the go-ahead 3-pointer.

Since being traded by the Los Angeles Lakers, Russell has been impressive for the Nets over the past two seasons. Right now he's leading the team to a 24-23 start. This is the first time that the Nets have been above .500 since the 2011-2012 season. They have won three straight games and are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Tasked with leading Brooklyn's young core that also includes Spencer Dinwiddle, Jarrett Allen, and Caris LaVert, Russell has taken full responsibility and has become the team's primary option on offense. He's currently putting up 19 points, 6.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals while shooting 43% from the field and 37% from deep.

During the Nets' three-game winning streak that included victories against the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets, Russell has averaged 28 points.

Brooklyn will try to extend their win streak to seven as they will begin a three-game homestand against teams who are currently out of the playoff picture (Kings, Magic, Knicks).
