Brooklyn Nets point guard D'Angelo Russell is the youngest player to reach double-digit 30-point games in a season for a Brooklyn player aged 22 or younger since Bernard King recorded 13 30-point games back in 1978-79, according to Basketball Reference.

Russell turned 23-years-old on Feb. 23. Before turning 23, the lefty scored 30 or more points 10 times this season.

D'Angelo Russell has established himself as one of the best young point guards in the NBA. The former No. 2 overall pick made his first All-Star team this season and it likely won't be his last.

In 74 games for the Nets this season, Russell is averaging 20.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists while shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 78.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Brooklyn is in the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference standings and on its way to making the playoffs for the first time since 2015.

Russell is having his breakout season at the perfect time. He becomes a restricted free agent this summer and has set himself up for a nice payday.

All signs point towards the Nets offering Russell a lucrative contract once free agency begins on July 1. It will be interesting to see how much money Brooklyn is willing to give DLo.
