Kevin Durant made his free agency decision the moment he was allowed to. Right after free agency opened up, the superstar forward revealed that he had decided to sign with the Brooklyn Nets and join superstar point guard Kyrie Irving. It was a bit of a shock to some, but it's a move that seems to have made Durant very happy.

His former teammate, Kendrick Perkins, revealed how Durant is feeling after making the decision in a quote shared by The Undefeated.

“They’re going to miss him when he’s gone,” Perkins told The Undefeated. “I talked to KD and he is happy. KD will do great. Finally, he got his own team.”

Perkins went on to talk about how Durant will fit alongside Irving and the rest of the Nets.

“I have no doubt they will co-exist. Kyrie needs to be able to play freely and just be himself and let KD be the leader and the playmaker. I think Kyrie will fall in line. After he left Cleveland he called ‘Bron to apologize to him. He realized that he is not that dude and that he needs to play alongside a guy like KD.”

Unfortunately for the Nets, they won't get their first look at Durant this season. He will miss the entire 2019-20 season due to the torn Achilles that he suffered during the NBA Finals. After his season away, he will have three full years to play with Irving and the Nets.

Brooklyn became an instant contender this offseason with their moves. Even without Durant, they are going to be a very difficult team to beat.

Expect to see Durant attack the rehab process and to make this decision worthwhile for himself and the Nets in the final three years of his deal. He is no longer living under the shadow of the Golden State Warriors and is ready to add on to his legacy.
