Despite Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving trade rumors pretty much filling the majority of the headlines of late, it is becoming increasingly clear that the Brooklyn Nets are having a hard time finding suitable trade partners for their two superstars. This could have a lot to do with the Nets' asking price, and at this point, Brooklyn appears to be prepared to run it back with both KD and Kyrie next season.

ESPN's NBA guru Brian Windhorst reported on Wednesday that at the moment, the Nets are keeping their options open. They are in no rush to send their two stars packing, and they are now reportedly prepared to enter the new season with both players still on the roster:

“Boy, is that the vibe that is coming out of Brooklyn right now,” Windhorst said. “That they are prepared to [keep Durant and Kyrie]. … The market for Durant has not been as lucrative as the Nets were hoping, and the market for Kyrie is very thin. It's essentially the Lakers, and the trade offer isn't great. If you don't like what you have, you just sort of close ranks and look at restarting it.”

Windhorst's ESPN colleague, Nick Friedell, then chimed in on the discussion. The Nets team insider indicated that he would be shocked if the Nets end up running it back with Durant and Irving next season. Friedell also added that Brooklyn could be willing to extend their trade negotiations with KD until after the new campaign starts:

“Kevin Durant is a pro's pro,” Friedell stated. “The Nets feel like if they have to stretch it into the season, while it's not anybody's first choice, that they can. And that Kevin will show up.”

Regardless of how they both feel about their situation with the Nets, what cannot be denied is that Brooklyn will still be a title contender next season if both players end up staying on board.
