The Brooklyn Nets have been playing short-handed lately. James Harden entered the league's health and safety protocols on Tuesday. Kyrie Irving is still not with the team. That has put more of the onus on Nets super star Kevin Durant to carry the team offensively.
He does not appear to have a problem doing that. Durant has elevated his game to new heights during the games without Harden in the lineup. He dropped 51 points the first game. Then he finished with a triple double on Tuesday with 34 points. On Thursday, Durant scored 34 again, with 11 rebounds and eight assists, falling just two assists shy of another triple double. All three games are victories for the Nets.
During the game Thursday night, Durant received MVP chants from the crowd. He addressed that on the court after the game.
“It’s nothing like playing in Brooklyn. They show love, they appreciate great basketball. We gotta keep it rolling for them.”

When asked what it was like playing in front of these fans, Durant replied “It’s nothing like playing in Brooklyn. They show love, they appreciate great basketball. We gotta keep it rolling for them.”
Durant truly is having an MVP caliber season. He is averaging just under 30 points per game, at 29.6. He also is pulling down almost eight boards and six dimes per game for the Nets. Most importantly, he has carried the team at times offensively and has the Nets in prime position in the Eastern Conference.
Brooklyn has won four straight games and is 21-8 on the season. That is 2.5 games ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks for the top spot in the East.
