The NBA Board of Governors recently decided to tighten their belts and double down on their anti-tampering measures in order to keep the league competitive moving forward. However, Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie was rather vocal about his displeasure on the new rules.

The 26-year-old didn't hold back his disapproval on the initiative, especially on the part of players tampering on other players.

The board will be imposing harsher punishments on players and teams that will be proven tampering during the free agency process. In fact, in a recent memo, the NBA emphasized that “conduct from player inducing another player to demand trade will be violative of tampering.”

The maximum fine for tampering has been raised to $10 million. Team officials will be required to save communications with agents for one full year, and “random audits” will be done to five teams every year.

However, Dinwiddie does make a good point when it comes to off-court relationships among players.

Most of these players have known each other throughout their young lives. Since many top basketball prospects all aim for the NBA, they will inevitably meet each other from time to time. Moreover, they do get to bond whenever they get called up for Team USA games.

Robbing these players of the ability to freely talk basketball with their peers will affect how they interact with each other.

This is not the first time Dinwiddie has spoken up against the league's rulings. Just recently, he was disapproving of the league's refusal to turn his contract into a digital investment vehicle.

It remains to be seen how team officials and players will go through free agency with such rules in place.
