The Brooklyn Nets find themselves the center of trade rumors with six days to go before the deadline. While it was Kyrie Irving who occupied headlines for most of the season over his vaccination status, lately it has been James Harden who has been under the microscope.

Many analysts think Harden is the next disgruntled star who'll wind up on a new team. And if that sounds familiar, that's because it has been just over a year since he wanted out of Houston and landed himself on the Nets.

Here's the latest on the Harden situation, per Shams Charania of The Athletic:

“But beyond availability, sources say there have been growing concerns over Harden’s playing style — one of dominant ballhandling and his own pace from his MVP and All-NBA days in Houston — that contrasts with the free-flowing, organic approach from his two co-stars. Nets coach Steve Nash has met with his team’s stars over finding the balance and most beneficial styles, and although there have been bright spots, too often the team has reverted to a more dry offense at the end of games, especially against the league’s elite teams.”

Harden was not active Friday for the road tilt versus the Utah Jazz, as he's nursing hamstring tightness. This is the second game he has missed in the team's last five with the issue, and his head coach Steve Nash said it's part of why he was so inefficient against the Sacramento Kings when he was held to just four points on Wednesday.

Naturally, when Nash was available to speak, people wanted to know what he thought about the latest trade rumors. Could their most recent losing streak cause the Nets to get more aggressive at this deadline?

“I think it's an age old dilemma,” said Nash. “I remember being a player and people sometimes, certain years, feel it more than others and the trade deadline is a part of the job. You have to do a good job to be a professional, not allow it to effect your play. I don't think our organization is the type that's reactive ‘oh we lost some games, make a trade.' I think we built something here that we feel we have a great chance to compete for a championship if healthy. So none of us are panicking or saying ‘we don't have the pieces to win,' we just haven't had them on the floor at the same time. So I don't see any kind of of reactive stuff going on at all.”

The Nets traded a ton for Harden in January 2021, and one of the center pieces of that deal, Jarrett Allen, is a player many think should have been named an All-Star over Harden. Isn't that something?

Right now, it's hard to know if this trade stuff is all going to come to a head quickly and the Nets will look totally different for the playoffs, or if this is going to feel like overblown rumors by next Friday. If Ben Simmons is a Net by this time next week, we won't have to wonder anymore.

Otherwise, it seems like the Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden need to find some way to fight through the injuries, the trade rumors and all the adversity in order turn this ship around.
