The Brooklyn Nets have played ten games in a row without superstar forward Kevin Durant, who is out with a sprained knee. To go along with the injury to Durant, the Nets have also had to deal with unnecessary issues surrounding their two healthy star players, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. Irving has not been able to play in any games in New York City or Canada because he is not vaccinated against COVID-19. That means he has only been available for road games, something the Nets did not sign up for when Irving got his max contract extension last summer. When you have three great players like the Nets do, you need the other two to step up when one is hurt. Right now, that isn't possible because Irving is only available for less than half of Brooklyn's games.

Irving's availability (or lack thereof,) is one of the driving forces behind Harden's recent drama as well. Harden has yet to sign an extension with the Nets as Durant and Irving did, and that has only caused more and more questions from the media as we approach the NBA's February tenth trade deadline.
