This past NBA off-season has been a whirlwind. The headlines were filled with marquee players such as Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving to name a few, signing with new teams. However, according to Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times, an anonymous former league executive thought the Chicago Bulls had a “sneaky” signing on their books in the form of guard Tomas Satoransky.

“My first reaction was, ‘Damn, the Bulls pulled a fast one,’ ‘’ said the former league executive. “Sneaky.’’

Chicago acquired the 27-year old guard from the Washington Wizards in a sign-and-trade deal worth $30-million for three-years. In exchange, they gave up a couple of second rounders to the Wizards.

The Czech Republic native has played in the Nation's Capital for his entire three-year NBA career so far. He had a pretty productive 2018-19 season and became the Wizards' starting point guard as the team lost All-Star John Wall mid-way through the season.

In 80 games season, including 54 starts, Satoransky averaged career-highs across the board: 8.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists across 27 minutes per game. As a starter, those numbers rose to 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.

Obviously, Satoransky doesn't jump off the page as a franchise-altering acquisition. However, the Bulls believe he is a perfect fit for their team moving forward. Most importantly, head coach Jim Boylen thinks that Satoransky can help them get more wins next season.

The Bulls, by no means, are playoff locks next season. The team is still young and is still focused on developing its young core. Veterans like Satoransky should help establish the culture around this young locker room.
