Chicago Bulls forward Jabari Parker might get another chance to prove his worth in the second half of the 2018-19 NBA season.
Parker has not played since December 10, and there were no signs of his return to the rotation in their recent games. However, Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson hinted that Chicago is not closing the door for Parker.
“That's all in the past,” Paxson said when asked about giving up on Parker, via K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. “We're not even going to worry about that. With the situation the way it is, we'll look and see if Jabari gets an opportunity.”
Jabari Parker was viewed as a potential key contributor for the Bulls this season. The 23-year-old forward signed a two-year, $40 million contract with Chicago before the 2018-19 NBA season.
The former Duke University standout played heavy minutes in 29 games for the Bulls, where he averaged 15.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. However, the Bulls surprisingly announced that he will be removed from the regular rotation when new head coach Jim Boylen took over after Chicago fired Fred Hoiberg.
In a recent interview with Johnson, Parker said he's not pinning the blame on Boylen alone. He said that he believes it is about the direction the team is going to. The former second overall pick also clarified that he did not have any argument or confrontation with coaches and teammates before he was removed from the rotation.
Jabari Parker also insisted that he will remain ready if the Bulls decide to utilize him again. He clarified, though, that he is looking to get enough playing time to prove his worth.
