The Los Angeles Lakers logged their third win of the season on Saturday with a much-needed 113-101 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. LA was able to come out on top against a young and promising Cavs side, which also featured yet another noteworthy performance from rookie Evan Mobley.

After the game, Anthony Davis had nothing but praise for Cleveland's third overall pick from the 2021 NBA Draft. The Lakers star agrees that he sees a little bit of himself in Mobley:

“This is my first time seeing him play, to be honest,” Davis said, via Chris Fedor of cleveland.com. “He’s probably the same size I was coming into the league. Pretty skinny. Elite shot-blocker. Lob threat. Kind of has some of the same things I had when I was coming into the league. But probably shot it a little bit better than me.”

Davis then went on to share how much potential he sees in the 20-year-old. However, the Lakers big man also made it abundantly clear that he does not completely agree with the comparisons between himself and Mobley:

“His game is going to progress. He’s going to keep getting better and better. You see the potential to be a three-level scorer, watching film on him a little before the game. I seen him shoot the 3. He hit one tonight. I seen him hit the midrange and floaters. He’d go to the post a lot in the game I’ve watched. He has the potential to be very good. It takes time. But I don’t really compare myself to anybody.”

Fair enough. AD is indeed one of a kind, and we're probably not going to see anyone like him in a long, long time. Nevertheless, for the Lakers star to heap this much praise on Mobley speaks volumes of how good this kid really is. Even LeBron James himself showered the Cavs youngster with some high praise.

Evan Mobley has been one of the most impressive rookies early in the season and it is clear that the Cavs got themselves a real stud in the former USC standout.
