Players like Dirk Nowitzki may seem more like a thing of the past these days.
In an era when it's easier to join forces in pursuit of a title, it's rare to find a superstar willing to stick it out for a 20-year career with one franchise.
Nowitzki is the face of the that and has been the face of the Mavericks for nearly two decades. Throughout his career, Nowitzki has had some great times enjoying success deep into the playoffs, one championship in 2010-11 and an MVP in the 2006-07 season.
This year was one of the lowest in terms of team success for Dirk and the Mavs. They missed out on the playoffs and are clearly in rebuilding mode, something they've been able to avoid in recent years despite many believing the time had already come.

It finally has but that doesn't have Nowitzki's spirits down about the franchise. Grateful for everything Dallas has provided Dirk, he had this to say regarding where the franchise is right now:

Mavericks fans will love hearing this. What else could you want from your franchise player as he enters the final phase of his career?
Dirk will be remembered for a lot of things in his career and described in many words. Loyalty will be one of those words.
