Dallas Mavericks all-star forward Dirk Nowitzki will be playing in his 19th NBA season when he suits up for the 2016-17 campaign.

Speaking with reporters on Friday, Nowitzki was asked whether he feels closer to 28 or 48 years of age. According to Dwain Price of the Star-Telegram, Nowitzki said he feels 48 or older at this point of his career, but his body isn't preventing him from being able to go on a nightly basis.

“I think sometimes when I haven't done much and you start through all the sideways movement and showing the pick-and-roll and stuff, you just get tight, you get sore a little bit,” Nowitzki said. “So I've been fighting through some soreness in the legs and in the hips.

“I'm usually pretty stiff-legged, but right now even more so. But usually, hopefully a couple more practices as the days go by I'll be a little better.”

At 38 years of age, Nowitzki has given a lot to the game of basketball, but he's not done yet. Last season, he averaged 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, all of which were up from the 2014-15 season. With new additions Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barnes, the Mavs could preserve Nowitzki for a postseason run.
