Dirk Nowitzki has heard all the “old man jokes” a locker room could muster during his last few years with the Dallas Mavericks.

Now in the offseason, the sixth-most prominent scorer in NBA history will prefer people lay off saying his age upon wishing him happy birthday.

While the intentions were noble, Nowitzki is likely reminded his age by the feeling in his legs after every game and the sting it causes to get into basketball shape prior to the start of the season.

Another reminder is just plain overkill.

Happy birthday to the best German to ever play this game.
