The Dallas Mavericks will be without two key veterans as they enter the second half of their back-to-back set. The team announced Saturday that Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis have both been ruled out for the matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers (5–14), scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET.
According to Dallas’ Saturday afternoon injury report, Thompson is sidelined due to left knee injury management, while Davis is out for left calf injury management. Both players appeared Friday night in the Mavericks’ 129–119 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in their final NBA Cup West Group B game.
Thompson logged 20 minutes in the loss, finishing with 10 points, one rebound and one assist while shooting 3-for-8 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. The 35-year-old is in the midst of the least productive season of his career, averaging 10.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 35.2 percent overall and 32.9 percent from three across 19 games, including eight starts.

Mavericks rule out Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis vs. Clippers

Davis returned Friday for his first appearance since Oct. 29 and his first game back at Crypto.com Arena since being traded from the Lakers to Dallas last February. The 32-year-old forward posted 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and three blocks on 6-for-10 shooting in 28 minutes. Despite missing significant time with a calf strain, Davis has been more productive statistically than Thompson, averaging 19.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals while shooting 52.9 percent from the field across six appearances.
Dallas enters Saturday’s matchup on a three-game losing streak, part of a difficult 5–15 start that has dropped them to the bottom tier of the Western Conference standings. Saturday’s contest marks the third stop on a four-game road trip, which concludes Monday against the Denver Nuggets (13–5). The Mavericks will then return home briefly to host the Miami Heat (13–6) on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV.
With both Thompson and Davis sidelined, Dallas will look to its reserve unit and remaining rotation pieces in hopes of stabilizing a season that continues to trend downward amid injuries and roster inconsistency.
