With the Dallas Mavericks' season officially over, fans still want answers from the organization about why they traded Luka Doncic. General manager Nico Harrison has been the main culprit here, and during his recent news conference, he spoke about the fans' reaction to the trade.

“I did know that Luka was important to the fanbase but I didn't quite know it to what level,” Harrison said. “But really, the way we looked at is if we're putting a team on the floor that's Kyrie [Irving], Klay [Thompson], PJ [Washington], Anthony Davis, and [Dereck] Lively, we feel that's a championship caliber team and we would've been winning at a high level and that would've quieted some of the outrage. Unfortunately we weren't able to do that, so it just continued to go on and on.”

Harrison is right, the outrage has continued, and there's no telling at this point when it will stop.

The Mavericks are just a season removed from the NBA Finals, and it seemed like they were going to run things back this season with the team they had. Then, the surprising trade that sent Doncic to the Lakers for Anthony Davis happened, and everyone was left confused about what the direction of the team was going to be.

Since the trade, the Mavericks have been trending downward, and it's mostly because of the injuries that they dealt with. Davis suffered an injury in his debut, Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford suffered injuries throughout the second half of the season, and Kyrie Irving tore his ACL.

On the other hand, the Lakers have been one of the best teams in the league since acquiring Doncic, and everything worked out on their side.

If the Mavericks can come out and have a great season next year, things may get lighter as far as the fans tearing them down.
