Dallas Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki has sent a message to his former teammates who were involved in the Kristaps Porzingis blockbuster deal.
Per Dwain Price of mavs.com, Nowitzki, who's been a witness to many of his teammates go due to trades, wished Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr., and DeAndre Jordan well with the New York Knicks.
“It's always tough to see teammates go. We really like, obviously, all of them. We wish them nothing but the best with their new team — wherever they're going to end up. It's always tough to lose teammates in the middle of the year.”

In return, the Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki got Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, Trey Burke, and Tim Hardaway Jr. Prior to the big news, trade rumors have already been hounding Smith Jr. Since the rise of Luka Doncic, Smith Jr. has fallen out of the rotation. This led analysts to conclude that the Mavericks should pursue another player who can efficiently co-exist with the 19-year-old Slovenian.
It may take sometime before Porzingis makes his debut as he's still out nursing an ACL tear. Mavericks fans can only imagine how Porzingis and Doncic will coexist together on the court. The Knicks, meanwhile, just set themselves up to have almost $75 million in cap space in July. This means that they can sign up to two players under a max contract.
Dirk Nowitzki has to be thrilled, on his end, to have a playoff roster moving forward.
