While Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks lost Game 4 in a heartbreaker, it is not without any positives. Just ask Mavs head coach Jason Kidd.

The Mavs bowed down to Utah 100-99. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert gave the Jazz the lead with 11 seconds remaining, and Dallas failed to execute in the final offensive possession.

Despite the defeat, Kidd liked what he saw from Doncic, who was making his 2022 playoffs debut after missing the first three games due to a calf strain. His clutch triple gave the Mavs a four-point lead with 39 seconds left on the clock. He would have been celebrated as the hero of the contest had they won, it's just that they weren't able to properly close things out.

“That was one of the things we wanted—to be sure he came out clean,” Kidd said of Doncic, per Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News. “He feels great. He did an incredible job for us.”

Luka Doncic finished with 30 points, 10 rebounds and four assists–all team highs. He shot 11-of-21 from the field and had two steals in an all-around effort for the Mavs.

Simply put, Doncic looked his old, dominant self despite some people expecting some rust in his game after being out for some time.

Of course it would have been great had they taken a 3-1 series lead, but Jason Kidd and Dallas should always like their chances of winning with a healthy Luka leading the way.
