Doncic has taken the NBA world by storm, similar to how LeBron James did when he was a youngster with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The reigning Rookie of the Year said last season he was surprised how well he played during his rookie campaign and now he is an MVP candidate and the new face of the Mavs franchise in the post-Dirk Nowitzki era.

Derrick Rose is the youngest MVP in NBA history. He won the award during the 2010-11 season with the Chicago Bulls at the age of 22. It will be fascinating to see if Luka can break Rose’s record this season or in 2020-21.

Barring a late season collapse, the Mavs appear on their way to making the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Basketball fans are anxious to see Doncic and fellow All-Star big man Kristaps Porzingis on the NBA’s biggest stage.

One of the reasons Doncic is flourishing with the Mavs is because of all the space he has to operate with. Dallas’ front office has done a good job of surrounding Doncic and Porzingis with shooters who can bring their defender out to the perimeter and open driving lanes for the Mavs’ two All-Stars.
