Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks showed what they were really made of Sunday, putting a 51-point beating on the Los Angeles Clippers for their first win of the season after starting 0-2.
Doncic made it a point to tell everyone that the Mavs' first two games were only a fluke.
“We showed who we are,” Doncic said, via Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News. “People judged us the first two games of the season. It's a long season, but we've got to keep going.”
What he says is true. Many fans and media members often overanalyze how a team is going to be just off of the beginning of the season in all sports. “Maybe never,” Doncic said. “Maybe when I was really, really young.”
He's right on the rarity and age group that normally produces a win like this. The highest level of play that sees these types of blowouts on a more regular basis is high school, and even there it depends on the teams that are playing.
