Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was named as an honorary memory by his previous team Real Madrid.
According to Real Madrid’s press release, this is “the highest distinction awarded” to anyone by the club. The 22-year-old Doncic is one of, if not the biggest, names that Real Madrid has produced, establishing himsel as an all-around NBA superstar.

Real Madrid said that the 22-year-old Luka Doncic continues to enhance the legacy of the basketball club. Doncic, who joined Real Madrid at the age of 13, earned a ton of basketball accolades in the EuroLeague and Intercontinental Cup where he won three league crowns and two Copa Del Rey tournaments. The Mavs star also continues to be the pride and joy of not just Real Madrid but also the EuroLeague.
Article Continues BelowTo give a brief preview of Doncic’s career before the Mavs, he debuted in the EuroLeague as early as 16 years old. He was also crowned the EuroLeague MVP both in the regular season and Final Four in 2018, being the youngest player to ever win the said recognition. Doncic averaged 16.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in 2018 where he also led Real Madrid to a championship.
The young and upcoming superstar then transitioned to the NBA in 2019 where he won the Rookie of the Year award. He was actually the Atlanta Hawks’ third pick, but they decided to trade him for Trae Young and a couple of picks.
Doncic, whom several analysts predicted would win the MVP this season, is currently averaging 29.0 points, 8.4 rebounds and 9.2 assists per game. His jersey sales have boomed in 2021 and is the second bought jersey next to LeBron James.
